A BIT ABOUT THE KIDS
In 2018 a few families came to Solid Rock Bible Church (in Sioux Falls, SD) and asked for help. They spoke about their family members still living in Liberia, Africa that had taken in about 76 orphaned children from the Ebola outbreak several years back. They were all living in one house and were only getting one meal a day, or sometimes no food at all. Several members started an official committee and went to Africa to see for themselves. The picture to the left is one that they took while there. They took Bibles, clothes, hygiene supplies and more. They assessed the needs and came back to America and got to work. They have been working nonstop gathering funds to help the kids in a variety of ways. While in Africa they experienced first-hand how difficult it was to walk about a mile to bring water back to the house or what it is like to have no bathrooms. Since the initial trip, they have built a well, bought all the kids "the shoe that grows" , a generator, built an additional building and two new bathrooms, paid for the kids to go to school, bought them handmade uniforms, are paying a monthly love gift to the African staff, and are now providing the children 3 meals a day. The most recent purchase was two acres of land in July 2020. The plan is to start construction of a permanent home for the kids in December 2020. As of September 2020, Hope for the Hopeless is taking care of 81 orphaned children. If you feel God calling you to help this ministry, please see the other sections to see how you can help.
